REVIEW: La Roche-Posay Anti Blemish System

La Roche-Posay . . . a well known brand I have heard and seen bouncing around the blogging community for quite sometime. However as always I don't jump on the 'hype' bandwagon, I tend to leave raved about products for sometime before revisiting.
From my teenage years, my skin has always been quite problematic; blemish prone, with blackheads / whiteheads but whatever I use never seems to really sort the issue.

However whilst perusing the beauty aisles in Boots, I spotted the La Roche-Posay Anti Blemish System. This kit caught my attention purely because it had a cleanser, toner and moisturiser, was reasonably priced, and looked very promising. As La Roche-Posay is a very popular brand with many giving good / positive reviews, I thought I'm bound to have good results with these products and hopefully my skin will settle.

Visible results from day 1 - significantly clearer looking skin at 4 weeks with Effacular Duo+. Proven efficacy on blemishes, clogged pores, excess sebum, uneven sebum, and marks.

Effaclar Purifying Cleansing Gel

A purifying foamy gel cleanser suitable for oily skin that aims to target excess sebum and impurities. It is clear in consistency but with not much scent (what slight scent there is, is very clinical!). I dampen my face first prior to use, using a pea sized amount I begin to massage into my skin, and then for that extra cleanse I use my trusty magnitone cleansing brush.
According to the packaging I should see visible results from day 1, right through to 6 weeks. I am now 7 weeks into using this product, and what visible difference do I see? Absolutely nothing! I am still getting whiteheads / blackheads, the blemishes are still very noticeable, and the oily patches (T zone), haven't reduced at all since use of this cleanser. However I do suffer with sensitive skin, and I did find this was gentle and didn't irritate my skin at all.

Effaclar Clarifying Toner

This toner targets large pores and oily skin, and I have to say I do like this toner. It contains two great ingredients, Salicylic Acid and Lactic Acid, both of which are wonderful at mattifying the skin whilst helping to tighten those pores. After cleansing I tend to use this with a cotton pad, and gently sweep across my face. I do feel a slight tingle, which quickly subsides as my face naturally air dries.
As with the cleanser, I have seen no real visible difference in the appearance / change in my skin, i.e. blemishes fading, reduction in blackheads / whiteheads. However I have noticed my make up sits better on my skin since introducing this toner to my skin regime. But that's about it.

Effaclar Duo+ Anti Imperfections Corrector

This cream aims to target blemishes, pores and marks. It is milky in colour, has a pleasant smell, non greasy / oily on application, very light consistency and sinks well into skin. I had high hopes for this but honestly I did not like it. I found it too light; my skin felt tight / dry, and after a while my skin started to dry out to the point where it was becoming sore. Unfortunately I did not see any significant improvement to my skin whatsoever, and have had to resort to using other products to try and put moisture back into my skin.

I have to say the one reason why I was drawn to this kit was the price; at £32.50 for a kit with 3 x products, offering a simple step by step system, you really can't go wrong with that. The kit states the products give a 6 weeks supply; considering I have been using this every day, morning and night for 7 weeks, I still have plenty product left. So taking that into consideration, it is in fact a very cost effective kit.

La Roche-Posay Anti Blemish System is a 3 step kit that includes a cleanser, toner, and moisturiser. It is designed for those with oily, blemished prone skin, and impurities. It claims to give visible results after day one, banishing those pesky nuisances, promising a clear complexion. The kit offers a 6 week supply, giving ample time to notice improvements in skin. After using these products for 7 weeks I have not seen any improvement in my skin whatsoever. I am still suffering with blackheads / whiteheads and the blemishes are no further reducing in appearance. So unfortunately for me this kits get a thumbs down, and I won't be repurchasing.

Have you tried the La Roche-Posay Anti Blemish System? If so, what did you think?

Would love to know your thoughts.
